International Projects

Act Now is fast developing an international reputation for its information law expertise. Our team have travelled far and wide to deliver training and consultancy on Data Protection and Freedom of Information law. Below is a list of some recent projects we have delivered. Get in touch for details.

In April 2020, Ibrahim Hasan will address the 21st Annual NAPCP Commercial Card and Payment Conference in Las Vegas. In a session entitled "Complying with the GDPR and United States Privacy Legislation". Ibrahim will examine the impact of GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) on the Payment Card industry. He will also be presenting webinars pre and post conference on these subjects to the NAPCP community.
Dubai (UAE)
We are delivering a series of workshops on the General Data Protection Regulation in March and April 2018. Details:
In December 2017, our director, Ibrahim Hasan, will address a conference of Scientific Archivists on the implications of GDPR on their roles.
Isle of Man
We have run a number of workshops, listed below, on the Isle of Man.

Our director, Ibrahim Hasan, has also spoken at an international GDPR conference hosted by the Isle of Man Commissioner.
In January 2015 Ibrahim Hasan and Paul Gibbons flew out to Brunei to deliver data protection audit training to staff working for the Government of Brunei.

This was phase 2 of our Brunei consultancy project. Phase 1 involved developing a Data Protection Audit Manual based on the Data Protection Policy released by the Brunei Government. This included guidance on DP audit planning, preparation and the use of DP audit templates.

Ibrahim Hasan travelled to Shanghai in China to train young Chinese and Hong Kong lawyers on behalf of the Law Society and the Bar Council.
We are currently working with the health service in Ghana to design and deliver a certificated data protection training course.
Paul Simpkins delivered a paper at Ethicomp (a Data Protection and Privacy conference). This was a three day conference attended by delegates from around the world. It was arranged by De Montfort University.
Paul Simpkins delivered training on the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2001 to schools and other organisations.
Paul Simpkins sat on the panel to discuss issues surrounding Privacy in Europe at Ethicomp (a Data Protection and Privacy conference) in Rome. This was a three day conference attended by delegates from around the world. It was arranged by De Montfort University.
