The Data Protection Act 2018
Data Protection practitioners need to have a good understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 which supplements the UK GDPR.

The DPA 2018 introduces exemptions to the normal GDPR rules as well as additional obligations when processing Special Category Data and criminal records data. It also implements, under Part 3, the Law Enforcement Directive which regulates the processing of personal data about criminal investigations and prosecutions. Part 3 applies to law enforcement agencies as well as those with investigation and prosecution powers.

This workshop will discuss the main provisions of the DPA 2018 as well as the impact of Brexit. Alongside the tutor’s expert knowledge, the case studies and exercises will enhance your knowledge of the UK data protection regime.

This in an intermediate course. You should have a working knowledge of the UK GDPR.

TESTIMONIALS
I have always found Act Now training to be informative and really applicable to the realities of dealing with DP issues. I will definitely attend more of your courses.
SH, Swansea University
Very useful to go through the elements of the DPA 2018 separately from the GDPR. Having also completed the GDPR Practitioner certificate, I would highly recommend this as a follow up for anyone having to use any of the DPA Schedules!
VP, University of Surrey
