Public Records (Scotland) Act: The New Records Management Plans

The Public Records (Scotland) Act requires all public authorities in Scotland to develop and maintain a Records Management Plan. The Plan has to define corporate responsibility for records, and covers how information is created, stored, managed and disposed of.

This course will provide details of how to get your Records Management Plan up to speed to ensure compliance with the new requirements of the Keeper of the Records of Scotland. The course will look in detail at:

  • getting a records management policy
  • development of a records retention schedule and its practical implementation
  • links with other requirements - GDPR, Security, FOI
  • getting buy-in for records management
  • getting the Keeper’s approval for your Plan
  • the Keeper’s self-assessment tools
  • the new requirements relating to third party compliance
