Understanding Directed Surveillance, Intrusive Surveillance and CHIS Preparing for an inspection by the Office of the Surveillance Commissioner (OSC) The Regulation of Investigatory Powers (Scotland) Act 2002 governs the way the Scottish public sector (e.g. councils, emergency services and the NHS) does directed surveillance, intrusive surveillance and deploys a Covert Human Intelligence Source (CHIS). This workshop will explain these terms in detail, will look at the record keeping and authorisation requirements as well as examine related legislation e.g. the Human Rights Act and the Data Protection Act. It will help delegates prepare for an Office of Surveillance Commissioners (OSC) inspection and implement any action points from a previous inspection. Our trainer is one of the leading experts in this field with in depth knowledge of the law and practice of public sector covert surveillance. |
