"This is one of the areas of most confusion. Authorities involved in child protection complained that they couldn't get the information they need [from each other]. It's an area of a great deal of confusion." The Walport/Thomas report on Data Sharing How can organisation share personal information lawfully? Multi agency information sharing is an issue which has raised grave concerns in the public sector recently. With the introduction of ContactPoint as well as new public sector joint working arrangements this will be even more of a hot topic in the coming year. As a result of the Thomas/Walport report into information sharing, the Government will soon publish a statutory data sharing code of practice to provide practical guidance. This practical workshop will examine this code in detail as well as guide you through the maze of legislation in this area and give you a checklist for compliance. This is essential for all those involved with information law and information management within the public sector who wish to lawfully share personal information both within and outside their organisation. |
