Examining the revised Records Management Code of Practice under section 46 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 The new FOI Section 46 Code of Practice was issued on 16th July 2009. Freedom of Information depends on good record keeping. The preservation of information is also important if public authorities are to further increase transparency in public life. The new Code is a significant step in ensuring that key records remain accessible to public bodies for day to day business and are preserved for future generations. The Code recommends public bodies across the country introduce a strategy for the preservation of digital records to ensure that they can continue to be accessed and used and are resilient to future changes in technology. This workshop examines the requirements of the new Code and how to apply those requirements in a public sector organisation. It is packed full of practical advice and tips on how to achieve and sustain compliance. This workshop is suitable for all those who are responsible for ensuring compliance with FOI and Records Management within an organisation. |
