Understanding Directed Surveillance, Intrusive Surveillance and CHIS

Preparing for an inspection by the Office of the Surveillance Commissioner (OSC)

The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (Part 2) and in Scotland The Regulation of Investigatory Powers(Scotland) Act 2002 govern the way the public sector (e.g. councils, emergency services and NHS) does directed surveillance, intrusive surveillance and makes us of a Covert Human Intelligence Source (CHIS). This course will explain these terms in detail, look at the record keeping and authorisation requirements as well as examine related legislation e.g. the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Data Protection Act 1998.  It will help delegates prepare for a Surveillance Commissioner (OSC) inspection. Our trainers are the leading experts in this field with in depth knowledge of the law and practice of surveillance.
