Course Description

Amongst the notable changes that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) makes to data protection law is a new right: the right to data portability. This means that in certain circumstances, individuals will have the right to ask organisations to provide them with a machine readable version of their data, or to provide it to another organisation. It is supposed to help consumers to shop around - if you want to find out whether you could pay less for your gas and electricity, you don’t have to re-enter your details on other companies’ websites as you can just ask your current supplier to provide your data to their rivals. But it's not just utilities that will be affected - employers and online retailers may have to ensure they can meet this right. In this webinar we will look at the extent of the new right, who it is likely to affect, and what practical steps you need to take to ensure you can comply.

The fee includes online materials, a test and a certificate. The course carries 1 CPD credit.
