The legality of sharing of personal information is a subject which often confuses public sector officials. Local authorities, in particular, are often stumped by the “To Share or Not to Share” question, even if the sharing is for very good reasons (e.g. child protection or crime prevention).
This webinar will examine the current law on information sharing including the Data Protection Act 1998 and the ICO Code of Practice. It will also look forward to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is due to replace the DPA in May 2018. The Digital Economy Bill (which will make data sharing between public authorities easier for the purposes of welfare, debt collection and research) will also be examined.
The fee includes online materials, a test and a certificate. The course carries 1 CPD credit.
